Can my UAE employer demand more than 90 days notice?
No. Article 43 Clause 1 explicitly states that the notice period shall not exceed 30 to 90 calendar days. If your contract states 4 or 6 months, that clause is invalid under UAE Labour Law, and MOHRE enforces the maximum 90-day ceiling.
What happens if I don't serve my full notice period in Dubai?
Under Article 43 Clause 3, whoever breaches the notice period must pay compensation in lieu of notice to the other party. The compensation equals the employee's total gross daily wage multiplied by the unserved days.
Do I get interview time off if my employer terminates me?
Yes. Under Article 43 Clause 5, if your employer terminates your employment, you have the statutory right to take one working day per week (or 8 cumulative hours) off with full pay to search for a new job or attend interviews. You must inform your employer 3 days in advance.
What are the resignation rules during the 6-month probation period?
Under Article 9: If you resign to leave the UAE permanently, you must provide 14 calendar days written notice. If you return to the UAE within 3 months on a new work visa, your new employer must reimburse your previous employer. If you resign during probation to join another UAE employer, you must give 30 calendar days notice, and the new company must compensate the original employer for hiring expenses.
