Can You Work in the UAE on a Visit Visa?

Interviewing in the UAE and working in the UAE are different steps.

The UAE has a jobseeker visit visa for exploring opportunities, and it also has tourist and other visit visas. None should be treated as a shortcut around the employer's work-permit process. The safest rule is simple: interview and negotiate first; start work only when the employer confirms the correct authorisation.

Before you accept a start date

Ask for:

• the legal employer name and matching company domain;
• the written role, salary, location and start date;
• the work-permit and status-change steps;
• who is responsible for recruitment and employment costs.

Compare the offer with the employer's official careers page and verify it through MOHRE Offer Inquiry. A chat message or PDF alone is not enough.

Red flags that need a pause

Stop and verify when someone says you must pay a visa deposit, begin unpaid “training” immediately, surrender your passport or work while the permit is “being processed.” Save the messages and ask the employer's official HR address to confirm the instruction.

A safer application path
