Verify a UAE Job Offer (30-Second Checks)
A genuine UAE job offer checks out in 30 seconds, and a fake one trips the same three traps. A wrong email domain, an unverifiable MOHRE offer number, or a request for money.
UAE labour law puts the cost of your visa, work permit, medical and Emirates ID on the employer. Any recruiter asking you to pay for these is running a scam, no exceptions.
The three checks
A genuine offer passes three free checks in 30 seconds. Email domain, MOHRE offer number, and who pays.
| Check | How | Takes |
|---|---|---|
| Email domain | Compare against the company's official website | 10 seconds |
| MOHRE offer number | eservices.mohre.gov.ae or 600 590000 | 2 minutes |
| Who pays | By law, employer covers visa, permit, medical, ID | 10 seconds |
1. Check the email domain
The recruiter's address must match the company's real domain, taken from its website, not from the email itself.
Scammers send offers from gmail.com, yahoo.com, or lookalike domains with a letter swapped (for example career-at-careem.com). Find the company's official domain from its website and compare.
2. Verify the MOHRE offer number
Every genuine private-sector offer carries a verifiable MOHRE offer number. Check it at eservices.mohre.gov.ae or call 600 590000.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation issues a verifiable offer for each genuine job offer in the private sector. Ask the employer for the offer number and check it. If they refuse to give it, or the number does not verify, stop.
3. Confirm who pays
The employer pays for your visa, work permit, medical and Emirates ID by law. Any candidate-facing fee is a scam.
Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 puts recruitment costs on the employer. Anyone asking for a "visa deposit", "processing fee", "ATS score improvement" or "security clearance" fee is asking you to fund a scam.
What legitimate offers look like
Real offers match a registered trade licence, follow an official application channel, and name your salary and role in writing.
- Employer name matches its registered trade licence (checkable via the DED/ADDED/SEDD or
moec.gov.aeportal). - You applied through an official channel. A company career page, a verified LinkedIn posting, or a walk-in drive.
- The offer arrives in writing, names your salary and role, and points to concrete next steps.
- Nobody pressures you to pay "today" or warns "the slot will expire".
If you already paid or suspect a scam
Stop paying, report to MOHRE and Dubai Police eCrime, keep every record, and post the pattern so the next candidate sees it.
- Do not pay anything further.
- Report to MOHRE (
600 590000) and to the eCrime portal (ecrime.ae). These are the official UAE channels. - Keep the conversation screenshots, the payment records and the recruiter's contact details.
- Tell others. Post the pattern on r/UAE or r/DubaiJobs.
The rule of thumb
If an offer asks for money before you earn any, it is not an offer.
A company that wants to hire you pays for your visa, and it will never need your credit card to do it. When you do find a genuine role, apply inside the first 48 hours. That is the window with the least competition. The live jobs feed pulls postings straight from company career pages, so you are applying on the employer's own system, not a forwarding site. Quick answers
How can I verify a UAE job offer is real?
Run three free checks. The recruiter's email domain against the company's real website, the MOHRE offer number at eservices.mohre.gov.ae, and who pays the visa costs. A genuine offer passes all three in about 30 seconds.
Is it normal to pay for a UAE work visa?
No. Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 puts visa, work permit, medical and Emirates ID costs on the employer. Any candidate-facing fee is a scam signal.
What is a MOHRE offer number and how do I check it?
It is the registration number of a genuine private-sector job offer in the UAE. Check it on the MOHRE online services portal (eservices.mohre.gov.ae) or call 600 590000.
What should I do if I already paid a fake recruiter?
Stop paying. Report to MOHRE (600 590000) and Dubai Police eCrime (ecrime.ae / 901), keep every record, and post the pattern in r/UAE or r/DubaiJobs so others see it.
